On Sunday we visited the
The 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art. It was really excellent with all sorts of exhibits from paintings, sculptures, films and miscellaneous installations from people all around the Pacific. I even found myself admiring a number of the painting from North Korea. They could be viewed as propaganda, but were evocative and took me back to my days working in the steel industry in Newcastle all those years ago.
Many of the works also conveyed powerful political and environmental messages, whilst some were just plain fun! Be sure to experience the room of string. You need to take of your shoes, go in and get lost.
The whole exhibition was so good that I'm going back again with my camera to practise some artistic creativity myself. I've taken images of some of my favourites off the web site.
